Union County Middle School on the A.T.

Donnie Kelley, A.T. Ambassador for Union County (and Union County Middle School Principal) led 29 eighth grade students on a hike from Springer Mountain to Len Foote Hike Inn, where they stayed overnight and participated in a trail maintenance project on the A.T. Approach trail.

Union County Middle School 8th graders

Approximately 600 Union County Middle School students took part in three hikes at the end of May. Two groups hiked to Springer Mountain while the 8th Grade students hiked to Blood Mountain Shelter.

Donnie, who went through the Trail To Every Classroom program in 2011, initiated a 14 Blazes program at the school, and was awarded the Southern Regional Partner of the Year by ATC and its Regional Partnership Committee.  Read More: UCMS 2
